Week 2

I am trying to stay caught up on this! Week 2 was last week.

On Monday, June 18th we got a call from our contractor. The city wanted them to redesign the footings. So John stayed in Utah to do the engineering work on redesigning them that day. He came up Tuesday morning with the footing crew and they laid it out ready to pour. It was a long day for them. They poured the footings on Wednesday, June 20th. That evening, they set up the forms for the foundation walls and poured the foundation Thursday morning, June 21st. By Thursday evening, they took the forms down and we have a foundation! YIPEE!

This was our first change/addition we made to the house. On the back of the house, we have a patio. John suggested to us that we might want to put in a cold storage room under the patio. So, we now have ourselves a cold storage room for food storage. Just a cement room that Ryan will build shelves for.

Step One

As I've said before, a lot of these house posts are for my own benefit and memories.

Here is our lot with our house staked out. It looks tiny! They did this on Friday, June 8, 2012.

They were going to have a local contractor dig the hole, but when his bid came back WAY high, our contractor decided to find someone else. The same crew that are doing our footings happened to have a mini excavator and skid loader and offered to do it for much less. They brought their machinery up from Utah and dug the hole June 11-13, 2012.

We are very excited to have a hole in the ground! This week they'll work on the french drain and footings.

Preschool Program

Celeste had her end of the year preschool program the end of May. She loves going to school with Grandma Harrison and is one smart cookie! She was reading at the age of 3! We love you, Celeste!

Before the program started.

Doing their Japanese Hand Chant

Singing Songs

Doing Lummy Sticks

Patriotic Songs

They put on a play after they sing songs. Celeste played the part of Cotton the Kitten who is playing hide and seek and climbs up in a tree. She is too afraid to come down but the other animals don't know how to get her down so they ask the "Wise Goose" who had found a book and decided he was very wise. The goose tells them to go get a blanket and all the other animal helpers. They hold the blanket and Cotton jumps into the blanket to get down, but she breaks her arm. The geese aren't as wise as they thought!

She made a pretty cute kitten!

I should have gotten a picture of the tree, too, but you can see the top of the tree she is "in"

Good job Celeste! We're so proud of you!

Dance Performance

Celeste has tried dance this year. She started in about February. We had a rough start but after a few practices, she started liking it more. Now she loves it! They had a performance in April she got to dance in. After it was over, she was grinning ear to ear. I thought our little dancer was pretty cute!

This was her jazz dance. You have to hold your tongue just right ;)

This is her ballet dance.

This Saturday is her big dance recital and then she's done for the season. I don't think we'll continue next year...at least with the same teacher. Maybe I'll try to get her in with a different teacher. We'll see. She likes dance much more than I do! :)
