Anniversary Trip

This past weekend Ryan and I took a trip to celebrate our anniversary. We especially wanted to do it knowing it was our last one without children, which is not a bad thing! We didn't pick a very good weekend because of the big storm and bad roads, but we made it. We went to the Salt Lake Temple Friday and then walked around Temple Square to look at the lights. Saturday we did a little shopping and hung out with my brother and his family in Provo. I have to tell you about my find! I was wanting to buy some maternity clothes because there is no where here to shop and I knew I was going to need them soon. I especially wanted some dress pants for when we go on our cruise in 2 weeks. I went to Old Navy to find ALL their maternity clothes on sale 40% off! I got 3 pairs of pants and 5 shirts for $122.00! It was a great buy! Saturday night we went back to SLC and went to a Jon Schmidt Christmas concert. I love Jon! He inspires me. That night we stayed at the Armstrong Mansion Bed and Breakfast, which are what the pictures of. It's a great place to stay for a get-a-way! We had a great trip.

'Tis The Season

We also finished putting up Christmas lights on our home today. I thought I'd post a picture of it because I thought it turned out very nice. Thanks Ryan! And yes, that is lots of snow! It snowed from 8:00 this morning until about 6:30 this evening. We are loving the snow and grateful for the moisture!

Saturday, that's play day

We had great plans today to go up the mountain with some friends to cut down a Christmas tree, roast hot dogs, and go sledding. However, by this morning, all of our friends had backed out on us. We don't have a 4 wheel drive vehicle and it would have looked funny driving our little car with a tree on top. Also, with me being pregnant and can lift a whole lot and with Ryan's injured back, we decided it probably wouldn't be the best thing for us to do by ourselves. I was pretty disappointed. Everyone decided to go up next weekend, but we'll be out of town, so we ended up going and buying a tree. It's a tradition for us to go cut one down every year. This is the first year we've had to go buy one. Anyways, we still decided to do dinner but it turned out to be a BBQ. We had six families at our house and lots of little ones running around wild. We ate and then played Battle of the Sexes. If you've never played that game with Ryan, I'll warn you now: he's good at it! Needless to say, the girls lost. But it was close! Ryan also had fun playing with the kiddos and got beat up a little. Here are some pictures of their dog pile! We had a great night.

Update

My cousin is getting after me for not updating, so I thought I'd write a quick one! Not much happens here is the problem. However, yesterday was Ryan and my 4th anniversary. Ryan got me tickets to a Jon Schmidt concert that we'll be going to in a few weeks. He's also taking me to see the Christmas lights on Temple Square because I've never seen them before. We're excited for the vacation!

I also just got over the flu. Tuesday night I didn't feel well and Wednesday it hit me. But today I feel great. The problem was my co-worker had her baby on Wednesday so I had to go to work or we would have been short a teacher. I made it through the day and all is well now!

12 Weeks 5 Days

Today I had my second doctors appointment. I used to work with my doctor and became pretty good friends with his staff so I know him well. He recently purchased a new fancy ultrasound machine that even does 4D pictures. He goes to a lot of trainings on how to use it and the cool stuff you can do with it. Last week he went to a training on 1st trimester screenings to detect abnormalities such as Downs Syndrome. He was really excited about it today and used me as his guinea pig. I'm not exactly sure what he did because he was using all sorts of fancy language but he did the sonogram and measured the babies spine. You also look at the nasal bone. He said everything looks fine. My doctor's working on getting certified to be able to offer this to all his patients and then will be able to send the pictures to specialists to analyze if he sees there may be a problem. I was just his test and he did it all for free. It's great having connections!

This 3D sonogram picture is cool, but it kind of looks funny. The babies head looks really big, but that's not all her head! You can see her little head looking down. I think it looks like she has a Pluto hat on or something. I don't know what that is, though.



This is just a 2D picture. It's still pretty cool. There's a lot of difference in the last 4 weeks. It was fun to watch the baby move. She is active! She kept on "bouncing" off the walls. It sure is a neat thing and I feel like Ryan and I are very blessed to have a little one coming to us.

Visitors

This past summer, we were fortunate to have the Wheats and the Wallaces come visit us! We had lots of fun hiking and sliding off the natural slide (waterfall) in Sinks Canyon. We love visitors and all are welcome!

Come on, doesn't it make you want to live here? Or at least visit?

Hunting

Not very often does anything exciting happen in our lives so I decided to post a few of these interesting pictures. Ryan went hunting a few weeks ago with his dad and three other men. Only three of the men (not Ryan) got charged by a grizzly bear, but don't worry, no one was hurt. They scared the bear off before he got to them by yelling and screaming. It did frighten them quite a bit. They had a black bear in their camp one night. A grizzly bear also tried to get to the elk Ryan shot and had hanging in a horse trailer by tearing up the trailer. The bear even bit entirely through the spare tire! Needless to say, I don't think Ryan will be going to this hunting spot again!

Our Gummy Bear

This is our other exciting news. After a long wait, doctors appointments, and one of the most difficult trials I've been through, we are thrilled to announce that we're expecting! There's not much to see in this sonogram picture because I was only 8 weeks along the day this was taken. It just looks like a gummy bear! (That's what the doctor said at least!) I'm now 9 weeks and am due May 7, 2008. We are extremely excited and will keep you posted!

About Us

I love looking at other friends blogs and seeing what's new in their lives, so I decided to make one for Ryan and I so others can see what we're up to! After I graduated from BYU-Idaho in December 2005, Ryan started looking for a new job. In March of 2006, he was offered a job with the State of Wyoming Engineers office in Riverton. We moved to Riverton and really enjoy it here. (I never thought we'd end up back in Riverton because it is my home town, but the Lord has a plan for us all and a lot of times it's not the same plan that we have!) We bought this house just after we moved here. It's not huge, but works well for our little family. We love it! And we love visitors so you're always welcome! I started off working at a medical clinic, which I didn't like. I am now teaching preschool and really enjoy it. My mother actually owns it so it's fun working and teaching with her.
