Lagoon Day

Saturday, July 21st was BYU-Idaho Alumni Lagoon Day! We decided to take advantage of the discounted ticket prices and enjoy of family vacation. We left our hometown the evening of Thursday the 19th. We stayed in Evanston, WY that night and then made the rest of the journey Friday morning. We met with some interior designers at the place where we'll be getting our flooring. We picked out carpet, hardwood, tile, and paint colors. That was exciting! Then the rest of the day we just hung out in Layton, UT walking around the mall, eating at Olive Garden, and swimming in the motel pool.

Saturday we had a busy and fun day at Lagoon. Celeste and Caleb LOVE the rides. I took these pictures with my old point and shoot. I'm not used to the delay so this is the best I got!

Ryan looks a little big for this one! ;) Anything fast or drops you, Celeste loved!

Celeste playing with another little girl that joined them in their helicopter.

I unfortunately didn't get any pictures of Celeste on the big roller coasters. (Or the biggest ones she could ride.) Her favorite rides were the Ferris wheel and all the fast ones! Caleb loved it all and I'm sure would have loved the fast ones, too, if he would have been tall enough to ride them. Ryan got to sneak away and go on Wicked and other adult roller coasters a few times. I wasn't as lucky and only got to ride Wicked and Colossus once each. I am discovering I'm not as young as I used to be and the heat got to me quickly. Therefore, I had to spend a good portion of the day under a tree resting so my lunch didn't come back up. :)  Speaking of lunch, BYU-Idaho provided us with a free lunch at one of the pavilions and door prizes! If you know me well, you know I love door prizes and winning things. I caught a Frisbee (more like stopped it), and I won a t-shirt! I was excited! The other highlight of the trip was seeing our good friends, the Blacks! Thanks for letting us join you! We hope to go back next year!

Week 6

July 18th: The lumber truck delivered all our wood for framing. Our contractor hooked up an outlet from our electricity so they could start laying the floor.
July 19-20: They laid our floor. Can I tell you how great it is to see progress?!

This is the basement. It will be an unfinished basement for now. I believe the only thing they will be framing is the bearing wall you see here.

Our trusses are scheduled to be made August 4th. We're hoping and praying a time slot comes available earlier so we can get them sooner. I'm ready for some walls and for it to look like a house!

Trip to Grandpa's

We took a trip to Grandpa Mikesell's house in Cheyenne, WY on June 29th through July 1st. Grandpa has all the fun toys and things to do! The kids played while mommy took pictures.

One of Celeste and Caleb's favorite thing we did was ride the horses. At first Celeste was timid around them.

But she warmed up quickly and pet the horse

Grandpa Mikesell struggled to get on the child's saddle!

He finally made it and Celeste and Grandpa went for a ride.

Caleb got to ride with Daddy

We also rode 4 wheelers and picked and ate lots of yummy strawberries that I didn't get pictures of. It was a great get away weekend that we all thoroughly enjoyed.

Week 5

Week 5: July 9th
We have an electricity meter! Our contractor has to somehow hook up an outlet to the electricity from the meter. (I don't know how it all works!)

If you've noticed, the last 2 weeks have been 1 day each. It's been a long 2 weeks of nothing happening. The lumber truck is scheduled to be here tomorrow so they can start framing this week. (They needed electricity before they could frame.) Let's home things start moving quickly and get this house built! And no more surprise fees and/or hold ups!

Caleb's 2nd Birthday

Caleb turned 2 on June 19th! We love our big, blue eyed, busy boy!

Before the party started, Grandpa was watching basketball. Caleb decided to join him. Caleb adores Grandpa! They are best buddies.

We ate pizza for dinner and then opened presents. We made the mistake of having him open his gift from Aunt Kara and Uncle Drew first. He LOVED the guns!

Grandpa has taught him about rubber bands and so he runs around the house with a rubber band stretched out yelling "shoot! shoot!" Now he does the same with the gun...

Grandpa helped teach him out to use the gun and then they'd watch to see where the dart landed.

He is very loved and received many more gifts, which he also loved.

Any time I said anything about his birthday, he'd quickly say, "cake!" He loves his sweets!

He even caught on how to blow out the candles. We had to light them more than once.

Happy Birthday Caleb! We love you and are so blessed to have you in our family!

Weeks 3 and 4

Week 3: June 25-29
John made the french drain and spread gravel all over the basement floor in preparation to pour the cement floor

June 29th the plumber came and did the first of the plumbing work.

Week 4: June 2nd
The cement floor was poured

Next step is framing! However, they have to wait until we have electricity before they can start that. We had a hold up with the electricity. There was a miscommunication as we thought we had electric to our lot. The truth is they put in the "backbone" but there is no electricity. We got to purchase a transformer and get electricity to not only our lot but the lot next to us. Wonderful surprise to us!

Celeste's Dance Recital

Celeste had her dance recital on June 9th. Once again, she had a blast and was all smiles! Love this little girl!

Grand Finale

Her dance teacher, Miss Jessie, gave each of the children a little trophy.

As you can see from this face, she was SO excited!

Checkin' it out

When we were leaving, she was holding her trophy and yelled out, "Mom, I WON!" It was so cute!
